The beautiful Eagle Point Nature Preserve at 665 Black Rd in Salisbury spreads over 200 acres of scenic forests, providing a serene escape surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. The trail loops span over three miles, winds through various types of indigenous forests, and follows the tree-lined shores of High Rock Lake to different observation points with magnificent views.

The Preserve is a natural habitat for North Carolina's indigenous wildlife, and white-tailed deer, raccoons, bald eagles, barred owls, and wild turkeys are often seen along the trails, and kingfishers, egrets, and herons around the lake.

Fish in High Rock Lake

The 15,000-acre High Rock Lake on the Yadkin River is the second-largest lake in North Carolina. It's a very popular boating and fishing spot where anglers boast regular catches of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and sunfish from the shore or boats. High Point Nature Preserve offers easy access to the water and Tamarac Marina at 9120 Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury has public boat ramps and offers boat rentals.

Admire the View From Dunn's Mountain Park

Take your binoculars and drive to Dunn's Mountain Park at 1740 Dunns Mountain Rd in Salisbury to see the fantastic view. Follow the easy-going half-mile path through the beautiful woodlands up to the top of the mountain. Once you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramic views of downtown Salisbury and Rowan County. If you're not up for the hike, the weekend shuttle service will take you straight to the top and back.

Take a Dip in the Blue Waters Pool

The enormous 20,000 square feet Blue Waters Pool at 6930 Faith Rd in Salisbury is ideal for splashing on a hot summer's day. The pool has two jump boards, twisting tube slides, and a shallow area with slides for little splashes.

Check out our four favorite summer activities near the Salisbury area. more Craft Market at the Railwalk Pavilion The Salisbury Rowan County Farmers' Market at the Rail Pavilion now features a monthly craft market. You can shop for local handmade goods on the first Saturday of every month through the end of the year from 8 a.m. to noon. The market will be located in the parking lot between the Salisbury Emporium and the Market Pavilion, 228 E Kerr St. Historic Josephus W. Hall House Tour this 1820 property on the National Register of Historic Places, once built as classrooms for the Salisbury Female Academy and five years later reimagined as a private residence. When you stroll the grounds of the Hall House, you can see the restored kitchen outbuilding from 1825 and a cannon from the Salisbury Civil War Prison. It's your chance to experience more than two centuries of local history including many of the home's original furnishings. You can tour Hall House every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. from March through December. Admission costs $5 for adults and $3 for ages 12 and older. Younger kids can get in free with a paying adult.
